How we collect and flag our data
The only real asset a comparison platform has is its credibility. So we state plainly what we know, what we have estimated and what we do not know at all. The numbers below are generated automatically from the site's data — they are not a hand-maintained marketing claim.
Current coverage
Distribution of verification levels
The product's critical technical values were verified against the manufacturer's datasheet, product page or manual. Some dimensional fields (weight, for example) may still be estimated; those are flagged individually.
The product's existence and core features were confirmed from a manufacturer source, but fields such as resolution, thickness or battery life are not public and were derived from class averages.
The product is known from industry sources but no manufacturer source was found. Values rest on class averages. These records are prioritised in our data requests to manufacturers.
Why we don't show exact prices
No electronic shelf label manufacturer publishes list prices. The real price can vary by a factor of two for the same product depending on volume, contract length, software package, exchange rate and partner margin. Publishing a single figure would produce information that looks precise and is wrong.
Instead we show a four-step price band. The band follows the product's display class, colour capability and manufacturer segment, and on every product page it is marked as estimated .
For budget planning you can use the budget estimator ; for an exact price the quote channel is what counts.
Price band scale
| $ | Economy — Value-segment manufacturers, basic feature set |
|---|---|
| $$ | Mid — Common professional models, standard sizes |
| $$$ | Upper — Colour, large display or long battery life |
| $$$$ | Premium — Aisle-header large format, full colour, LCD rail |

Method
1 · Compilation
Data is compiled first from the manufacturer's own datasheets and product pages. Secondary sources (distributor pages, press releases, industry reports) are used only when no primary source exists, and the source type is recorded.
2 · Validation
Every record passes schema validation; an inconsistent value — a battery life entered for a mains-powered product, say — never reaches production and stops the build. A last-checked date is kept for each record.
3 · Manufacturer request
For records lacking a source or carrying many estimated fields, a formal data request goes to the manufacturer. The status of that request (not sent / pending / answered) is stored on the record.
