- Price labels, access points, software and installation as separate lines
- Ask for a five-year total cost of ownership (TCO) table
- Have the battery warranty and the label warranty stated separately
- Get a committed annual failure rate and replacement time
- Require an SLA for price update latency
- Get a spare part supply commitment (7–10 years minimum)
- Include a price protection clause against exchange-rate moves
- Set a cap on annual licence increases
