Hanshow
A design-led manufacturer growing quickly in Europe and Asia. It introduced the four-colour Nebular Pro series in April 2023; at 7.8 mm body thickness it offers one of the thinnest models in the sector.
Strengths
- 7.8 mm ultra-thin unibody housing (Nebular Pro)
- IP68-rated seven-colour LED signalling
- NFC for mobile content updates and fast commissioning
- A strong price/performance balance within Tier-1
Watch-outs
- The field service network is still maturing in some European markets
- Software localisation and integration depth vary by project
SoluM
Offers a broad product family built on hardware heritage spun out of Samsung Electro-Mechanics. The Newton series spans 1 inch to 32 inches. The Newton PRO datasheet (Rev 1.0, 2024) states IP68 protection, a seven-colour LED, FeliCa NFC Type-3 and 128-bit AES encryption across the whole family, together with a proprietary protocol over the BLE physical layer in the 2.4 GHz ISM band and a 30 m line-of-sight range.
Strengths
- The widest product family in the sector (1 to 32 inches)
- IP68 protection and a seven-colour LED as standard across the entire Newton PRO family
- Freezer, industrial and full-colour variants on the same platform
- IoT expansion through sensor labels and BLE trackers
- A detailed, publicly accessible datasheet - one of the easiest manufacturers to verify
Watch-outs
- Model naming (Pro / Core+ / X / Extreme / Industrial) is complex - choosing the right variant takes care
- The Core+ and X lines do not share the IP68 and LED features of the Pro family; do not mistake the cheaper variant for a Pro
- Full-colour models sit in the premium price band and have long refresh times
How solid is this comparison?
33 fields are estimated across Hanshow records, with 15 sources attached. For SoluM: 54 estimated fields and 17 sources. Estimated fields are derived from class averages and are marked individually on product pages; where the two brands differ sharply in how much is estimated, the comparison is unequal by the same degree.
